Booking.com, closer to being designated a "gatekeeper" by Brussels

The EU's Digital Markets Act aims to prevent digital monopolies, and online travel agency Booking.com is under scrutiny in Brussels.

Online travel agency Booking.com has notified the European Commission of its potential status as a "gatekeeper" after exceeding the quantitative thresholds established by the recent Digital Markets Act (DMA). Brussels now has 45 days to decide whether or not to designate the OTA as a "gatekeeper" and, if so, the online travel booking platform would be subject to new rules aimed at preventing digital monopolies in the EU.
